FACEBOOK has finally made it possible to crosspost Reels from Instagram to Facebook.
That means anyone can now transfer the TikTok-style clips directly to Facebook with ease.
It’s handy for anyone who regularly posts to both apps.
But it could mean you’ll now be inundated with more Reels than ever before.
Reels are part of Facebook’s strategy to go big on video – in a bid to rival TikTok.
The short clips were launched on Instagram in 2020, and then on Facebook in 2021.
Many early Reels were simply cloned directly from TikTok by users.
But now Instagram has its own strong Reels community sharing clips on the app.
With the new Facebook and Instagram updates, crossposting can be done with a single tap when sharing a Reel.
Meta – which owns Facebook and Instagram – is also launching a new Add Yours sticker for Reels.
This lets users respond to a Reel with their own video.
The feature was actually added last year for Instagram Stories.
But it’s now finally possible to use it for Reels too.
This will work across Instagram and Facebook, including using the crosspost function.
Meta recently came under fire for revealing a future focus on Reels and content from accounts you don’t follow.
Billionaire owner Mark Zuckerberg was forced to make a u-turn on increasing recommended posts and full-screen videos after Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian demanded it “stop trying to be TikTok”.
“I’m glad we took a risk — if we’re not failing every once in a while, we’re not thinking big enough or bold enough,” said Instagram boss Adam Mosseri, speaking to Platformer.
“But we definitely need to take a big step back and regroup.
“[When] we’ve learned a lot, then we come back with some sort of new idea or iteration.
“So we’re going to work through that.
“For the new feed designs, people are frustrated and the usage data isn’t great.
“So there I think that we need to take a big step back, regroup, and figure out how we want to move forward.”
