On Thursday, the racing community comes together to honor the late Jack de Bromhead.

The Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle will now be known as the “Henry’s Son” race in honor of the child rider who tragically lost his life in a pony racing accident last year at the tender age of 13.

Trainer De Bromhead, 49, and his wife Heather issued a statement honoring their son in the days following his death.

Explain who Jack de Bromhead was.

Jack de Bromhead, a teenage jockey, was killed at the age of 13 in a tragic accident at a pony race.

In September of 2022, Jack was injured when he was thrown from his horse during the Glenbeigh Racing Festival on Rossbeigh beach in County Kerry, Ireland.

This is a huge competition for aspiring young jockeys who hope to one day compete at Cheltenham as professionals.

After the tragic event, the whole racing community rallied around Grand National-winning trainer Henry and his family.

Jonjo O’Neill, Jack de Bromhead’s trainer, lamented the “absolutely tragic news” on Twitter. I feel terrible for him and his loved ones.

“I don’t know what to say. We are thinking of and praying for his loved ones during this time. The local community is in a “state of shock,” according to Kerry county politician Michael Cahill, whose family attended the Glenbeigh Racing Festival.

He remarked, “The event has been running for a century, and this is the first time anything like this has ever occurred.

I’d like to express my heartfelt condolences to his family.

There were a lot of people at the funeral for young Jack, including Rachael Blackmore.

Blackmore was accompanied to the funeral by fellow Cheltenham Festival hero Barry Geraghty and former top rider Robbie Power, which took place in Waterford city in Blackmore’s native Ireland.

De Bromhead has showed incredible bravery by speaking so eloquently about the effect Jack’s death has had on him and his family in the months since.

He was commended for’showing dignity in the face of heartbreak’ in one interview that was particularly touching because of this.

The race is named after De Bromhead’s son, and he plans to enter five horses. The odds on Magical Zoe are in his favor, and he should back her.

Foxy Girl, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, will be among the horses he fields, along with Ladybank, Belle The Lioness, and the 250-1 long shot Still Ciel.
