Simonds and Evelegh, who took over in July 2020, have spent about £350,000 on a refurbishment of The Old Fort. They wanted to create “a proper pub, with real food, a relaxing, friendly, and comfy environment where everyone is welcome.” A slew of patrons in Seaview have embraced this ethos, and it gained rapid traction.
Culinary Excellence
The Old Fort has introduced a new menu focusing on down-to-earth ingredients. That are both local and in season, all under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Bam Smith. Locally-caught crab, lobster, and fresh fish have become customer favorites, demonstrating the establishment’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
Community Engagement
The Old Fort is much more than a place to eat; it holds the center in Seaview. It features live music on a Friday night, serves mouthwatering roasts every Sunday, and has quiz night the first Wednesday of each month. Such events promote a sense of community and its entertainment for patrons both young and old.
