Have Fun In New Castle, Even In The Winter

Everyone knows it is fun to visit Newcastle in the sunny summer months. But a lot of people don’t think about visiting l in the winter. There are plenty of great things to do in l in winter months. There are fewer people, so you can take your time and not miss a thing. 

The coldest month of the year is January in Newcastle. So, you may want to plan for December or February. The other months are rarely extreme.

Fun things to do

  • Casino

If you are like most of us, you may want to spend an evening at a casino. Newcastle has a casino. Keep in mind there is a dress code. You cannot enter wearing anything below “smart casual.”

However, if you don’t want to leave your run because you find it too comfortable, you can still have fun. Order room service and play online lottery such at Irish Lottery. But don’t forget to check out the rules for the Irish Lottery. It has pretty good odds of winning a prize.

Everybody loves football! Be sure you schedule seeing the 31st season of the Premier League. It will be an exciting year. Manchester is a two-time defending champion, having won 2020-21 and 2021-22. 

There have been some shifts in the schedule due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II and a mid-season break for the FIFA World Cup. You can find the schedule here.

Hundreds of years of history, much of it a bit disturbing, are shared with visitors who visit the famous castles of Newcastle. Founded in 1080 by Robert Curthose, this iconic castle has stood many invasions, battles, and wars again. Further, It has been threatened by people who want to tear it down in the name of progress. Newcastle castle remains today and is open to the public.

Another castle you may want to tour is Alnwick Castle. This castle was used in the Harry Potter movie as a real-life Hogwarts.

Enjoy the renovated Auckland Castle. You will learn of a long and somewhat dark history of the story of Bishop Durham and his power. The castle carries a 1000-year history of the bishops that took place here.

If you want to spend the night in a castle, check out Langley Castle, which was built in the 14th century, and Hever Castle, built in the 13th century. These castles give you the experience of staying in a castle with all the modern amenities. 

Museums

You and your family will find plenty of museums and art galleries with some of the most impressive collections in the area. There are 35 to choose from just in Newcastle alone. 

Shopping

If it is great shopping you are looking for, you are at the right place. Newcastle is known for exclusive designer stores with unique items. When you are finished with the designer shops, head to their huge malls. 

MetroCentre is just a short way from Gateshead and features 350 stores. You can spend the entire day in this mall and not see everything. You can also enjoy a meal at one of the 50 restaurants in the mall and catch a movie in their theater to give your feet a break.

Central Arcade is a shopping center that has been around since 1837. With only a few stores, this ancient shopping area draws a lot of people. They come for the experience, the coffee shops, the history, and the resellers of musical instruments. 

Royal Quays is a different shopping experience as well. This is a shop where people buy top-of-the-line and designer items at a fraction of the cost. You can look like you are high-society without blowing your budget.

There are many more malls, private boutiques, and places to shop during your visit. Each of them has a food court. It is a lovely way to meet new people, sample new foods, and enjoy a winter day. 

If you want to just go somewhere to unwind. Rent a seaside chalet or a cabin with a private hot tub, and just get away from the world. There is no place more beautiful to enjoy winter scenes.
