Kingspan Insulation has released the first online U-value calculator to include calculations authorized by the BBA and TIMSA’s competency scheme. The calculator can be found at www.uvalue-calculator.co.uk. The program has 6,000 pre-loaded calculations, including those for sloped and flat roofs, walls, and floors, and it doesn’t even require registration.
It’s incredibly easy to calculate a U-value. The site is optimized for use on both mobile devices and traditional computers, and it will guide you through a few fast questions to determine your exact requirements. You can seek help in simple English by clicking the question mark symbol if you get stuck. You can bookmark the calculation at any point to save your work and return to it later.
When you’re done, the calculator will immediately give you a suggested insulation solution, thickness, and U-value. Insulation thickness and U-value can be adjusted till the customer is satisfied. You can also have the entire computation emailed to you in a print-friendly pdf file by selecting “Email Me This” and filling in a few information.
All U-values within the tool have been pre-calculated by a member of Kingspan Insulation’s Technical Services Department who is approved under the ‘BBA/TIMSA Scheme for Calculation Competency Part 1 – U-value and condensation risk’ to assure accuracy. You can be sure that the figure you get is accurate for the build-up you’ve chosen because, when applicable, it also takes into consideration fixes and bridging factors.
