Nicola Bulley: Key witness discovered during search for dog walker

An “key witness” in the search for a woman that disappeared when walking her dog was discovered, according to police.

Nicola Bulley, 45, was last seen walking towards the River Wyre off Garstang Road within St Michael’s on Wyre, around 9:15 GMT in the evening of Friday.

Her cell phone was found on a bench that was still connected to a call from work officers reported.

Lancashire Police said the witness who was walking an adorable white dog in the region was “currently being spoken to”.

A man “spoke to the woman in the area who found Nicola’s dog near a bench in the field” according to the force wrote in a previous statement.

Friends of Ms. Bulley have joined in the hunt for her, including one woman, Emma White, describing the situation as “a nightmare”.

‘Overwhelming support’

Police, firefighters as well as mountain rescue groups are participating on the quest. The brown cocker spaniel of Ms. Bulley’s Willow was found near the spot where she went missing.

“Our ultimate priority is to find Nikki,” added Ms. White.

“We still have hope. We don’t know what’s happened, it was just a normal day in a normal life.”

On Monday, Ms Bulley’s boyfriend, Paul Ansell, said that it”was “perpetual hell” for her family.

The dog was a springer spaniel whose name was Willow was discovered loose between the bench and the river.

In a conversation from their Inskip home, he stated: “We are living through this but it doesn’t feel real.”

The community has been involved in the hunt for Ms Bulley Also called Nikki and an office is being established at the tennis club of the village to coordinate volunteers.

“The community, friends, people from all walks of life have just pulled together and have done a fantastic job in offering support, which the family need right now,” Ms. White said.

“It’s overwhelming. I must have got 100 messages a day from people I don’t even know just offering us support.”

‘Open mind’

In a note to her missing friend she wrote to BBC Radio Lancashire: “We’re missing you immensely and we’ve got two little girls who want to see their mummy. If you are out there Nik come on, come back, we need you, we love you lots.”

Ms Bulley who is an adviser to mortgages is described as being white 5 feet 3 inches (1.6m) high, and has blonde shoulder length hair that is light brown.

She has an Essex accent. She was last seen in an oversized black gilet with an Hood, black jeans, and olive ankle-length wellies.

In addition to the Inskip as well as St Michael’s, Ms Bulley is also linked to Thornton Cleveleys Lancashire Police said.

The Supt Sally Riley said the force kept “a really open mind about what could have happened but we do believe that the likelihood is that Nicola has gone missing and this is not a crime inquiry”.

She advised “anyone who may have been driving through the village of St Michael’s last Friday morning… or who may have dashcam footage that could be of use to us, or people who may have been dog-walking in the area or on the tow path to come forward”.
